VCT EMEA
The Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) is Riot Games’ flagship esports league for its breakout title Valorant, bringing together the best professional teams from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 2023, the competition took over Berlin for an eight-month season of live events streamed worldwide.

High Viz Media played a central role in delivering the broadcast operation, ensuring that each weekend’s matches reached global audiences at the highest production standard. This consistency cemented VCT EMEA as one of the most-watched esports properties in the world, and showcased High Viz Media’s ability to run complex, multi-site live productions with reliability and creative impact.

This was an 8 month project where we worked closely with Riot and their agency Jack Morton across multiple events, from Friday to Sunday each week. Each show was broadcast to an international audience through multiple platforms from the Messe Exhibition Centre in Berlin.

A custom MCR multi-part gallery was planned and built, which housed production elements, league operations and the observer team. This technical complex ran in conjunction with Riot's Stryker facility in Dublin, as the main production hub and nerve centre for the operation.

Running 2 separate stages, the main studio featured Sony 4300s on ospreys and a jib, teleprompts, and PTZs. The stage featured a jib camera, PTZs, a Steadicam, and marshal player cams that appeared overlaid on the game feed.

We also created a software package to allow the visual representation of the in game data to be displayed on the broadcast and on the LED wall in the studio. Overseen by the tournament officials, the teams selected their choices for the upcoming game which was sent automatically to the graphics and LED team, running through VizRT for playout. The software was customisable to the specific conditions required for the current stage of the tournament.
The result? a peak concurrent viewership of 300k, with average views of over 120k. In total we broadcast for over 177 hours across the six months, with 21,207,435 total hours being watched by viewers.
